More about me

Nita Labuschagne
Artist , illustrator , potter and small business owner
Hi.
More about my art journey
I was born in South Africa in the 60’s. As a child, I loved to draw, paint and read anything I could get my hands on.
In 2019 I took a leap of faith and left the corporate world to become a full-time multi-media artist. I work from my Johannesburg home studio I share with my husband, dogs cats and a very vocal parrot.
I use acrylic, oil, gouache paints, pencils and ink pens to create my art. I am also dipping my toe in the world of digital art with Procreate on an iPad Pro.
I also try to spend at least two days a week in my clay studio, exploring the 3-dimensional aspects of the clay and the technicalities of glazes.
I love learning and exploring new technologies, and techniques and building on skills mastered. My subject matter varies, from portrait studies in oil and acrylic to whimsical illustration and graphic art for branding and advertising.
Take a journey into my world, told through the language of my art.
